I'm starting to see a theme to my blogs. Apparently a lot of my day and my thoughts revolve around my kids & the craziness of my household. Today I would like to expound on the wonderfulness of it.
Did you read the cartoon clip from The Family Circus above? You can tell that the kids are really having a great time playing. The mother is hard at work with her daily duties. I can imagine that among the many thoughts whirling around in her head, one of the strongest is: When's this day going to end? This scene is not uncommon to myself. It's so easy to get caught in the stressful moment of washing dishes, prepping a snack, getting lunch ready, picking up toys, getting the dirty clothes into the washing machine, etc... and THEN... the phone rings and the little neighbor boy wants to come over to play. HAHA! I always say yes. Know why? Because when this little kid comes over, my boys are so happy. They quit bugging each other & entertain themselves by showing off their toys and strength to their guest. At least until they all jump on me wanting their snack, i get a break. Who ever would have thought that having an extra kid around the house (someone elses!) would make your work lighter??
Anyways... back to "the moment." It's this stressful moment when you're about to slap someone silly when enlightenment is needed. I've heard it called the A-HA moment. I pause in what i'm doing and look around.
This is how I try to direct my thoughts...
Dirty Dishes?
"Thank you, Jesus, because we have dishes to eat with."
Crumbs (always) on the floor?
"Thank you, Jesus, because we have enough food to eat"
The Laundry Mountain never goes away?
"Thank you, Jesus, for the clothes that we have to wear every day"
10am already? Never enjoy trying to figure out what's for lunch?
"Thank you, Jesus, that we have enough to have options
The kids driving you nuts with their constant arguing?
"Thank you, Jesus, bc each of my kids has a strong personality and they fight for what their believe in"
(so on and so forth...)
It's not sure-proof... but it does have successful ratings. Oftentimes we get caught up in the whirlwind of our daily lives and forget that all we have is a blessing from God.
oops... gotta go. Baby woke up (*grumble*)
"Thank you Jesus because I have the time and enough love in my heart to soothe her back to sleep..."
